He concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, dental malpractice, admiralty/maritime, and other civil litigation claims. Charles also serves as outside general counsel to a select group of businesses, overseeing high-stakes commercial litigation, negotiating contracts, handling transactional matters, and advising on a wide range of business-oriented legal issues.
Over more than 10 years of practice, Charles has accrued advanced medical knowledge relevant to personal injury and disability cases, which he uses to provide exceptional advocacy for his injured clients. Charles develops a custom litigation strategy for each client, drawing on the insight and experience he gained defending serious maritime and other personal injury cases in state and federal courts. He understands no two situations are identical, and he works closely with his clients to achieve their goals and maximize recovery.
At Tulane University Law School, Charles was a published member of the Maritime Law Journal, the preeminent student-edited law journal in the field of Admiralty and Maritime Law. He developed his passion for litigation as a competitor and coach for multiple national mock trial competitions, and he served on the Moot Court Board. His mock trial success earned him the honor of being inducted to the Order of Barristers.
Charles is licensed to practice in Virginia, Louisiana and Washington, D.C., including select federal courts. He is an active member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice and the Fairfax Bar Association, where he served as co-chair of the Law Practice Management Section from 2016-2019. Prior to law school, Charles earned his BFA from Tulane University in New Orleans, where he studied music and theatre with a concentration in vocal performance. He has played guitar and keyboard in bands and once toured Europe as a singer/folk dancer. Outside of work, his favorite hobby is spending time with his wife and daughter – especially hiking, camping and boating. He sings with the Unitarian Universalists Congregation of Fairfax choir and is known to make other cameo performances throughout the year. Charles is also a student pilot and treasures every opportunity he gets to explore our world from above.
